    • During WWII he enlisted in the Australian Military. On his enlistment his birthdate is at variance with the birth date I have been given. A difference of 6 months older than he actually was. He must have married before his enlistment as his NOK was his wife Ellen Mathieson. Enlistment took place at Carlton, on 10 Mar 1941, with service number VX50875. Discharged, from 2/6 Infantry Battalion, on 2 Jan 1946, as a Private.
